Parental burnout is not simply being tired. It is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion that develops when ongoing parenting demands exceed available support and recovery time. Parents experiencing burnout may feel numb, irritable, detached, or overwhelmed by even small tasks. They may question their capacity, withdraw from connection, or feel like they are constantly failing.
Burnout does not mean a parent lacks love or commitment. In fact, it often occurs in parents who care deeply and push themselves beyond sustainable limits.

Parental burnout is influenced by many factors, including:

Parenting a child with additional emotional, behavioural, or developmental needs
Financial stress, work demands, or caregiving overload
Personal trauma history or untreated mental health concerns
Burnout thrives in isolation and silence. When parents feel unable to ask for help or fear being judged, exhaustion deepens.
